29th November 2005 was a historic day, when the people of two nations divided by political boundaries came together to pay homage to Guru Nanak Devji, the first Guru of the Sikh religion.
For the first time in the history of India and Pakistan, 1300 Indians crossed over to Wagah, Pakistan, taking a Palki Saheb made of pure gold and establishing it at Gurdwara Janam Sthan, the birth place of Guru Nanak Devji, called Nankana Saheb. Jahan Jahan Ram Charan Chali Jahin
Keeping up with its image of a socio-spiritual entertainment channel, Zee Jagran brought its viewers an exciting new program on 6th April 2006, Ram Navami Day.
Jahan Jahan Ram Charan Chali Jahi took its viewers on a unique pilgrimage with Shri Arun Govil, who is still fondly remembered by people as ‘Ram’ of the Ramayan serial. The pilgrimage covered two countries, ten states, seventy two districts and two hundred and fifty locations, made possible by the untiring and monumental research undertaken by Dr. Ram Avatar Sharma for 21 years. The gripping narrative made in a docu-drama/travelogue style gave viewers a unique chance to explore and know in detail all the places visited by Shri Ram during his journeys, first with Rishi Vishwamitra and Rishi Vasishta as a child, and then during the famous fourteen years spent in exile.
They discovered places like Sarvatirth, where Shri Ram found the injured Jatayu and Makhauda, a small village 20 kms from Ayodhya, where Raja Dasharath performed the Putrayesthi Yagna, and where the Havan Kund in which this yagna was performed is still present. There are 250 such places, some known, a majority unknown, but all of them sacred and blessed by the footsteps of Shri Ram.
Bhopal Gas Tragedy
In the early hours of December 3, 1984, a holding tank with 43 tonnes of stored MIC overheated and released a toxic MIC gas mixture, heavier than air, which rolled along the ground through the surrounding streets. The transportation system in the city collapsed and many people were trampled trying to escape. According to the Bhopal Medical Appeal, around 500,000 people were exposed to the leaking chemicals.
Approximately 20,000, to this date, are believed to have died as a result; on average, roughly one person dies every day from the effects. Over 120,000 continue to suffer from the effects of the disaster, such as breathing difficulties, cancer, serious birth-defects, blindness, gynaecological complications and other related problems.
Zee Jagran, as a socio-spiritual channel, rolled out a documentary unfolding the effects and after-effects of the incident and the life of the victims who survived the havoc. It uncovered what has been done and what more could have been done for the betterment of the lives of the victims by the government and NGOs. A soul stirring documentary that brought to the forefront the agony of the victims of the long forgotten tragedy that changed millions of lives.
